It is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Remember when you were a little kid and the other kids said “ewww you got cooties”, STDs are basically the same thing – you get it from bumping uglies, sexual contact – even Clinton/Lewinsky style.

It’s not a painful process, but it can be embarassing. Don’t worry, the doctor will have probably seen it hundreds of times, and it shouldn’t be awkward for them.

If you are infected, you can ask your doctor about removing genital warts.
