			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Media is filled with health and fitness information.  It’s in all the magazines, on all the radio shows, and on television.  There are articles galore and advertisements wherever there is space around the articles.  These articles and advertisements are meant to get you thinking about your own wellness, your fitness and health in the U.S.A.  They are geared towards making you feel you must do something to yourself to get yourself in shape and healthy.  </p>
<p>This leads you to wonder about what level you are on in the scheme of things.  Are you absolutely fit and healthy?  Can you do more to become more fit and healthy?  How should you go about making sure you are as healthy as you can be?  What you need is a health and fitness counselor who can test your fitness level.  After your doctor determines you are well enough to undertake a fitness program, go to your local gym.  Your wellness level and your fitness level are not the same thing, but they each rely on the other one to keep you fit and healthy.</p>
<p>Your immune system determines your wellness rating.  Taking vitamins, supplements and your dietary intake helps your immune system to be healthy.  Being fit doesn’t necessarily mean you are well.  Not being fit doesn’t necessarily mean you unhealthy.  However, exercising and eating healthy works together on your overall being.  Doing both gets you on your way to good health and fitness.  </p>
<p>It is very important when undertaking a program on wellness you incorporate both fitness and nutrition into what you do.  However, as mentioned previously you are probably finding yourself bombarded with advertisements and articles on the subject.  So how do you determine what nutrients to take and what type of exercise to do.  Well your exercise can be taken care of by a counselor at a gym.  However, you might not be getting the whole picture as to what you need.  Maybe what you need is so inexpensive that it doesn’t pay for anyone to even tell you about it?  After all, anyone can exercise—with or without a gym membership.   </p>
<p>When you see our doctor they want you back as a patient.  So it is not in their best interest to tell you the entire facts you need to stay fit and well.  </p>
<p>As for wellness, it’s basically down to your eating habits and vitamin intake.  You have to work daily on what you eat and what your vitamin intake is to remain healthy.  This is true for both your mind and your body.  As discussed in a previous article, you need good nutritional protein to keep your mind well.  It comes down to this:  No protein, no intelligence.  	</p>
<p>Wellness encompasses our state of being, mind, and health.  It is a condition of the whole.  Wellness is a condition of the mind, body, and soul.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In this article, I am going to discuss of having protein in your diet and how it affects your brain.  How can protein affect your brain you say?  Well, protein does affect your muscles, organs and tissues and the development of same.  Just like the other parts of your body, your brain needs protein for it to function properly.  We need our brain in order to digest, or store, the day-to-day facts and figures presented to it each day and the processing of all this information.</p>
<p>Making sure you have a good diet of protein is a basic nutritional need.  It is part of your ability to keep your brain healthy and functioning as it is intended to be.  Therefore, keep it healthy with protein foods, vitamins, and minerals in order to make your brain as well as your body thrive.</p>
<p>So how do we know we are getting the proper amount of protein in our body?  The answer to that depends on each person’s individual needs.  All of our bodies are different.  Our age, our weight, our height, our overall general condition all go into determining what is right for us.  The USDA has guidelines that could help you determine what amount of protein you should consume.</p>
<p>Keeping a journal of your protein intake and other foods consumed for about a month would help.  Jot down your daily weight.  If you do not gain any weight at the end of that month, you can be sure you are eating the right amount of foods to allow you to maintain your weight.  Working with a nutritionist should help you determine if what you did consume was adequate in terms of protein, vitamins and minerals.  The food pyramid as published by the USDA is also a good guide to help you determine if you are eating the proper proportions.</p>
<p>Throughout your planning of what foods to eat and how much of it to eat each day, you are using your brain.  You are mentally exercising it to think and reason.  Your brain will get exercise and you are working towards your health at the same time.</p>
<p>Do this together with exercise and safe recreational choices and you are well on your way to a healthy body and mind.</p>
<p>Maybe now you have a clearer picture of the opportunities we have our brain to affect our health.  It is more than just conscious decisions.  It is a result of brain development through childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.  It is a result information we have previously absorbed, and input we will continue to receive.</p>
