The use of legalized marijuana for the homeopathic treatment of pain.

TRYON EDWARDS:

“He that never changes his opinions, never corrects his mistakes, will never be wiser on the morrow than he is today”.

I have a good friend, who was an RN back in the early 1980s. She did a lot of visiting hospice care, and she baked her patients a lot of brownies. I knew that she liked to have a toke or two off a joint from time-to-time; I knew she had access to pot; when she told me there was weed in the brownies, I did not doubt her. However, I did doubt her explanation to me of the medicinal qualities that this herb had for her patients.

She was a hippies throwback, she liked to get high, and therefore my belief was ’she’s just trippin’.' I know many potheads; of course, they all think that it is the coolest thing on the planet. What could possibly be more fun than to get a sick person high on marijuana? In addition, I found myself spending decades shaking my head at those who used the words “medical marijuana” in the same sentence. They just want to get high I said to myself.

I have recently been blessed with a personal experience of the benefits of Cannabis for its pain killing qualities.

Because I live in Washington State, and I meet the criteria set by the state of Washington to qualify, I have a “license” to be in possession of marijuana legally. I am not an attorney, but I interpret the law to be telling me: “ I can grow it, I can cook it, and I can smoke it.” I am not allowed to buy it. I am not allowed to buy seeds. I am only permitted to use my medicinal marijuana within the state of Washington. I can share my weed with other patients who have a medical marijuana card. I cannot sell anything that contains marijuana to anyone. That is the basic gist of our law.

I am a very poor historian of my own medical problems, and I am not a physician. I don’t know about you, but I really don’t want to sit through someone’s laundry list of ailments – specifically for this week, the primary reason that I’ve utilized my medical marijuana was for nerve pain that radiated through my hip and down to my knee. This has been causing me agonizing pain, waking me from my sleep, and making it very difficult to get out of bed and to walk. In the past, I have used a variety of over-the-counter medications, as well as prescription drugs, to the point of excess, with no relief of this particular pain.

I do not like to smoke weed. The major deterrent for me is the coughing. I have watched people smoking pot, inhaling, turning red trying to hold the smoke in before releasing it in a fit. Surely that, in and of itself, must cause additional agony right? I do not want the discomfort, nor do I want anyone to see me in such a state. God forbid someone should see me choking and continue walking thinking, “eh, she’s just smoking her pot again”. In this case, it is very easy for me to say “no” to drugs.

Cooking. Macaroni and cheese and pancakes where the home cooked meals that my mom made. Kraft and Bisquick made sure to provide the major ingredients, along with my mother’s recipe, on the back of every box.

A good vaporizer is a few hundred dollars, I would like to at least try one before I invest in one.

Therefore, I started by making capsules. They are easy to ingest and inexpensive to purchase. No precise measurements are required.

The capsules, (I was recommended to use the 00), are easily available online and can be purchased at herbal shops and pharmacies.

Filling the double zero capsules by hand can be difficult if you have poor dexterity. There are capsule filling machines, which are cheap. I have only seen (online) ones that fill 20+ capsules at a time. I have not used one or seen one used, capsule filling machines are also easily accessible online or at an herb store. I cannot tell you whether these filling machines can fill one at a time.

You will want to be sure that you have a good herb grinder.

weed grinders

I have a nice metal one, similar to the one in the video above. I have been utilizing the crushed buds. I’m told that getting it ground to a powder is more effective and potent. At this point, I haven’t gone that far. Two tightly packed capsules of crushed bud has alleviated the sharp pains in my legs. I’m still a little stiff, but I can walk relatively pain free.

I haven’t experienced any drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, or anything that makes me feel like I’m impaired. Of course, this is my own experience, yours may differ. I have no idea how to determine the strength of the capsules that I am taking. It will probably vary from one dose to another.

I notice the pain to be relieved within 20 minutes and it lasts for 4-8 hours!

Today we are going to talk about homeopathic treatments for arthritis in the way of herbal medicines. These medicines are for the purpose of solving the immediate problems associated with arthritis such as pain and stiffness.
If you have a fever, are resless or feel anxiety, then Aconitum three times a day should help you.
If you have arthritis that is centered in the hands ad feet with the joints being swollen and painful, then Actera spic would be a good choice.
Taking Apis mellifica three times a day would help when you have a lot of swelling, but not that much pain.
For joint pain try taking Arctium six times every four hours..
Perhaps you don’t even believe you have arthritis as it comes and goes. Therefore you do nothing. When symptoms do show up it’s probably because of rheumatoid arthritis from coldness, and dampness. Sometimes you get sore and see bruising.
In the event of a sudden feeling of sharp pain and you get chills or wet, and the joints are swollen and red try some Belladonna.
For chronic synovitis of the knee, try Berberis vulgaris once every four hours.
If you have pain that worsens with movement and is sensitive to touch, try Bryonia alba three times.
What should you try if you have arthritis affecting the shoulders and upper back and it only gets worse when the conditions are wet or damp? This is rheumatoid arthritis and a good homeopathic treatment for this would be Calcarea-carlionica-ostrearum.
Then there are times when a person gets angry and restless all because of severe pain. In this case Chamomilla should do the trick.
How about muscle pain that is making you very talkative, resless, happy one minute and sad the next? Try Cimicifuga racemosa for this.
If you suffer from subacute rheumatism because of coldness and wetness, try Dulcamarta hourly taking three at a time.

A diet might help you with a rheumatoid arthritis problem. It is really a trial and error thing, but well worth the testing as it can alleviate much of your problem.
One suggestion is to give up animal protein.
Another suggestion is to stop consuming foods in the nightshade family. This includes tomatoes, white potatoes, the various peppers, eggplant, tobacco and belladonna. Be forewarned that using nightshade products can take as long as 48 hours before a reaction comes on. If you get a reaction, it could take as much as 6 months for the reaction to stop.
When going the homeopathic treatment for arthritis path using diet, read labels on prepared foods. The pre-processed foods can have potato starch or tomato paste in it. Relish can have peppers or paprika in it. Look for the word “spices”.
You might also want to try a gluten-free diet. This means no wheat, rye, barley and oats.
If that does not work, your next course of action should be giving up all dairy products.

Some causes of rheumatoid arthritis are mold. Food most susceptible to mold are potatoes, sweet potatoes, berries, nuts, honeydew and cantaloupe. Watch for a reaction if you find you unknowingly ate a moldy product.

There’s an enormous problem that exists today with the huge number of people suffering from arthritis in its many forms. It is said that well over half the population of this country who are over 60 suffer from either osteo or rheumatoid arthritis.
Both are caused by “bone and cartilage gravel”, the bits of bone and cartilage which are left in the joints after the body has started to deteriorate, rubbing in the joints each time it moves. This “gravel” rubs on the nerve ends, causing pain, whilst at the same time creating more damage as the “gravel” continues to rub away more of the bone and cartilage. In other words, a vicious circle that modern medicine cannot resolve.
But there are ways in the alternative remedy field that may, and I know of many cases that have, been able to break this circle.
I recommend that a daily Hemp Oil Capsule, or the liquid neat, which is quite tasty, and can be taken off a spoon, should be considered long term. Hemp Oil comes from hemp seed: THE MOST NUTRITIONALLY COMPLETE FOOD SOURCE IN THE WORLD.
Taking a quality Hemp Oil is just the same for your body as putting oil in your car’s engine. It lubricates the system. Hemp is unique with an almost perfectly balanced profile of Omega 3, 6 & 9 to match the body’s requirements.
Uniquely among common seed oil, it also contains GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid) and even more uniquely, raises circulating GLA.
GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid) research around the world has shown that hemp oil (as can all essential fatty acids) boosts the body’s natural ability to heal and also boosts our immune systems. The Essential Fatty Acids in hemp are renowned for their ability to improve cell growth and organ function, vitality and mental state.
Extensive studies have shown that many common illnesses (such as Eczema, Arthritis and many other problems) are related to deficiencies or imbalances of specific fatty acids, and in particular, Omega 3, 6 & 9. Seeds of the plant cannabis sativa, hemp seed (not the drug plant!) contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life. No other single plant source has the essential amino acids in such an easily digestible form, nor has the essential fatty acids in as perfect a ratio to meet human nutritional needs.
Its distinctive nutty flavor makes it ideal for use in salad dressings, dips etc., as an accompaniment to all vegetables, or taken straight, as a nutritional supplement.
Hemp Oil is suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
