Homeopathy is concerned with treating the whole person rather than the illness alone. The homeopath will consider the patient as a whole, both physically and psychologically, taking into account the patient’s physical appearance, their likes, dislikes and their temperament. It is therefore a highly personalized form of treatment, so patients who apparently suffer from the same illness may be given advice for different medicines.

Homeopathy is a well-established form of healing. Today many of the leading pharmaceutical companies are researching and mass-producing homeopathic medicines.

Homeopathic Medicines
Homeopathic medicines look very much like conventional medicines and are taken in the same way, but the way they work is very different.

The medicines are not synthetic and are derived from natural sources. Over 60% of homeopathic remedies are prepared from vegetable or plant materials. Other remedies are prepared from naturally occurring mineral substances, including metals, non-metallic substances, and mineral salts. Animal sources of homeopathic remedies include Cuttlefish (the ink or juice provides sepia) and Honeybee.

Homeopathic medicines are prepared by obtaining the remedy in its most concentrated form, and then, through a long process of dilution, by preparing a medicine whose potency is sufficient to effect a treatment. The potency describes the measure of the dilution of the remedy, and the number, which follows the name of the medicine itself, denotes it. The higher the number, the greater the dilution (up to one part remedy to one trillion parts dilutant).

Homeopathic Medicines
Homeopathic medicines, commonly referred to as remedies, may come from the plant, mineral, or animal kingdom. Some common remedies include: arnica montana, from the Leopard’s bane plant; belladonna, from the deadly nightshade plant; calcarea, calcium carbonate from oyster shells; sepia, from cuttlefish ink; and the element, sulphur.

Homeopathic remedies today are produced using the same dilution principles as in Hahnemann’s day. In a common dilution of 1:100, one drop of the homeopathic substance is added to 99 drops of water and/or alcohol. The mixture is then potentized by a process called “succussion” – repeated tapping on a hard surface for a specific length of time. Remedies may be diluted up to 1000 times, leaving only an infinitesimal trace of the substance. Remedies are typically diluted 10, 100, or 1,000 times, which translate into potencies that are marked with the Roman numerals X, C, and M. Homeopathic remedies range from 6X as the lowest potency to 1M or more as the highest potency.

Remedies can be taken orally in pill, powder, or drop form, rubbed topically, or injected. There are usually no side effects from homeopathic treatments, but a patient can experience what is called a “healing aggravation,” a temporary accentuation of symptoms. This is seen as a positive sign that the remedy is working. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, a homeopath may choose an antidote, which produces the opposite effect of the remedy. The antidote may be another homeopathic remedy, or a strong substance, such as perfume, camphor, or coffee, which are known to block the effects of a remedy.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized homeopathic medicines as drugs since 1938, working with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention to produce and update their reference book of homeopathic medicines. Over the years, the FDA has classified homeopathic medicines as either prescription or more commonly as non-prescription (over-the-counter), depending on their strength. In the United Kingdom, homeopathic medicine has been part of the National Health Service (NHS) since it began in 1948. There are currently five homeopathic hospitals in the NHS. Homeopathic medicines are available over-the-counter or by prescription.

Safety of Homeopathic Medicines
Because of the very, very small doses used in homeopathic treatment, the medicines are completely safe, non-addictive and have no unwanted side effects. The curative properties of the remedies are released even in extremely high dilution‹and render the medicine completely safe for the treatment of both children and babies.

Always consult a practitioner before buying homeopathic remedies, and make sure that they are kept safe and out of the reach of all children.

Where dosing instructions have been followed, no case of toxic action has ever been reported in association with homeopathic medicines.

Receiving Homeopathic Treatment
Homeopathic treatment is practiced by fully qualified Health Practitioners who understand the philosophy of homeopathic medicines well as patients’ emotional and daily situations.

While some homeopathic medicines are readily available in both regular pharmacies and health stores, you MUST consult your homeopathic practitioner before attempting treatment for any serious ailment or illness.

If you are currently on medication for a serious medical or psychological condition, you should NOT stop taking your medication in order to start homeopathic treatment. Your practitioner will advise you on the best course of treatment, often working with your internist or therapist.

The question is, do they help? Do they really do what they say they can do? Well let’s have a look.

The first place to look is on the Internet. There you’ll find descriptions of various allergy products and antihistamines. Whatever you can afford there’s a product for you that will end your pain and suffering.

Don’t get fooled by all that you see on the Internet. It’s a good place for research and information, but when it comes to actually figure out what you need to help you, you have to dig deeper than the surface as it’s a complicated issue. That’s because there’s just so many different allergies one person can have. You can be allergic to cats and most dogs. You can be allergic to dust. You can be allergic to the medicines that you are told to take to stop being allergic. Then there’s dust allergies, perfume allergies, food allergies, outdoor allergies, indoor allergies, and the list goes on.

So what to you do?

First off you need to know exactly what you are allergic to. A doctor specifically in the field of helping people with allergies would be the best place to start. He or she will give you medical tests to see what allergies you actually have.

After you get the results back, it’s time for real research. Take your time learning about your specific allergy(ies) and reading about the various products purporting to be able to help you with your allergy(ies). Make sure the product matches your type of allergy. For instance, if you have airborne allergens, then an air filter would help you alleviate the problem. An allergy to pet dander is a good example of an airborne allergen.

If your problem is dust mites, are known to cling to bedding. Not only should you be using a vacuum on the, but there are new beddings that prevent dust mites from coming into contact with you. This includes inexpensive pillow cases, blanket covers, and mattress covers.

If your problem is with plant-based allergens, air filters will not do the trick. Allergens derived from grass clippings, ragweed, etc., are effectively kept out of your house by keeping doors and windows closed and using an air conditioner.

When your allergy doctor gets back the results of the tests, you will be able to discuss with him or her how best to solve your problem. If you want to go the homeopathic treatment way, there are doctors specifically geared to that type of treatment.

Having genital warts can be very frustrating and depressing.  As indicated, genital warts are extremely contagious and can easily spread from person to person who have sexual contact with each other, as well as replicate itself on your body—including all around your genital areas and your thighs.  Many people who contact this disease get depressed, have increased anxiety and can be mentally affected.

The common remedies for genital warts by a doctor is with the use of liquid nitrogen, or cryotherapy as it is known, CO2 laser surgery, or doses of podophyllin weekly.  These methods, however, are known to be painful and can cause adverse side effects.  In addition, they might not totally cure you of the virus either.  You will need to see the doctor often and this can be expensive.

You can go this route or embark on a program that gets rid of genital warts through natural curing.  Not only is this cheaper than all those doctor visits, you can do this right in your own home.  The first method you can try is to use apple cider vinegar.  Apply the vinegar directly onto the affected area two times a day and then cover the area with a band-aid.

The second natural cure remedy for genital warts is with the use of milkweed milk.  You will have to collect the milkweed sap into a little container and then dilute it so the milkweed milk comprises only 10 percent of the mixture.  You will need a good lotion to dilute it with.  Vitamin E is a good lotion and aloe is excellent as well.  As advised previously, apply this mixture directly on the genital warts two times a day.  Do this for approximately two weeks.

In addition to the above, a good healthy diet would be a good idea.  The diet should be rich in beta-carotene and folic acid.  This will help prevent additional outbreaks of the HPV virus.  Suggested foods include tomatoes, mango, squash, cabbage, radishes and spinach.

It is a sexually transmitted disease (STD).  Remember when you were a little kid and the other kids said “ewww you got cooties”, STDs are basically the same thing – you get it from bumping uglies, sexual contact – even Clinton/Lewinsky style.

One cause can be when you are under a lot of pressure or stress.  This can make a headache come to you automatically.  It is quite possible to faint if the pain becomes so unbearable.

What is a headache anyway?  It can be a mild or a severe pain right inside your head.  Sometimes a headache can be felt at the base of your upper back or neck.  As I said, stress is a big cause of a headache.  There are other causes as well such as sitting too long in front of a computer screen, or hearing a lot of high-level noise.

Tension in the muscles at the neck, scalp and/or jaw can cause a headache.  The best thing to do when this happens is to get some sleep or use over-the-counter aspirin.

What do you do if you are not in a place where you can easily take a nap or you do not have an aspirin handy?

Try a massage on your head, neck or upper back.  You will need to apply pressure or have a vibration instrument on the soft tissues of the part that has a headache.  This will relieve stress brought on by psychological causes, relieve pain, improve circulation and other areas where there is tension.

You should find this easy to do no matter where you are—work, home, on a bus, at the mall, etc.

Here are four massages for the healing of a headache:

1. Massage of the Eyes – Simply close your eyes and place your middle fingers to your eyes just about the cheekbones.  Massage gently, but firmly, in a circular motion.  One minute of doing this should be enough.

2. Massage from the Eyes to the Nose – Using your thumb touch the underside of your eyebrows, which is along the bone on top of your eye socket.  Feel for the bone meeting the bridge of your nose and eyes and then find a point where there is a small indentation.  Using a very gentle pressure press your thumbs right into the points.  Do this four times and hold the press for 10 seconds each time.

3.  Massaging the Neck – Start by moving the middle fingers of your hands on the back of your head while feeling the base of your skull.  Do this especially at the top of your neck where the base meets your skull.  Massage for a minute with your fingertips moving gently in a circular motion.

4.  Massaging the Scalp – This is when you use your palms on your scalp at the top.  Massage for a minute, but be gentle.

When you are done massaging take a deep breath and lift your shoulders up towards your ears.  Hold for five to ten seconds and then let your shoulders drop back down and into their natural position.

Do what you need to do a couple of times and your headache will feel less irritating or cause less pain.

“He that never changes his opinions, never corrects his mistakes, will never be wiser on the morrow than he is today”.

I have a good friend, who was an RN back in the early 1980s.  She did a lot of visiting hospice care, and she baked her patients a lot of brownies.  I knew that she liked to have a toke or two off a joint from time-to-time; I knew she had access to pot; when she told me there was weed in the brownies, I did not doubt her.  However, I did doubt her explanation to me of the medicinal qualities that this herb had for her patients.

She was a hippies throwback, she liked to get high, and therefore my belief was ’she’s just trippin’.'  I know many potheads; of course, they all think that it is the coolest thing on the planet.  What could possibly be more fun than to get a sick person high on marijuana?  In addition, I found myself spending decades shaking my head at those who used the words “medical marijuana” in the same sentence.  They just want to get high I said to myself.

I have recently been blessed with a personal experience of the benefits of Cannabis for its pain killing qualities.

Because I live in Washington State, and I meet the criteria set by the state of Washington to qualify, I have a “license” to be in possession of marijuana legally. I am not an attorney, but I interpret the law to be telling me: “ I can grow it, I can cook it, and I can smoke it.”  I am not allowed to buy it.  I am not allowed to buy seeds.  I am only permitted to use my medicinal marijuana within the state of Washington.  I can share my weed with other patients who have a medical marijuana card.  I cannot sell anything that contains marijuana to anyone.  That is the basic gist of our law.

I am a very poor historian of my own medical problems, and I am not a physician.  I don’t know about you, but I really don’t want to sit through someone’s laundry list of ailments – specifically for this week, the primary reason that I’ve utilized my medical marijuana was for nerve pain that radiated through my hip and down to my knee.  This has been causing me agonizing pain, waking me from my sleep, and making it very difficult to get out of bed and to walk.  In the past, I have used a variety of over-the-counter medications, as well as prescription drugs, to the point of excess, with no relief of this particular pain.

I do not like to smoke weed.  The major deterrent for me is the coughing.  I have watched people smoking pot, inhaling, turning red trying to hold the smoke in before releasing it in a fit.  Surely that, in and of itself, must cause additional agony right?  I do not want the discomfort, nor do I want anyone to see me in such a state.  God forbid someone should see me choking and continue walking thinking, “eh, she’s just smoking her pot again”.  In this case, it is very easy for me to say “no” to drugs.

Cooking.  Macaroni and cheese and pancakes where the home cooked meals that my mom made.  Kraft and Bisquick made sure to provide the major ingredients, along with my mother’s recipe, on the back of every box.

A good vaporizer is a few hundred dollars, I would like to at least try one before I invest in one.

Therefore, I started by making capsules.  They are easy to ingest and inexpensive to purchase.  No precise measurements are required.

The capsules, (I was recommended to use the 00), are easily available online and can be purchased at herbal shops and pharmacies.

Filling the double zero capsules by hand can be difficult if you have poor dexterity.  There are capsule filling machines, which are cheap.  I have only seen (online) ones that fill 20+ capsules at a time. I have not used one or seen one used, capsule filling machines are also easily accessible online or at an herb store.  I cannot tell you whether these filling machines can fill one at a time.

You will want to be sure that you have a good herb grinder.

I have a nice metal one, similar to the one in the video above.  I have been utilizing the crushed buds.  I’m told that getting it ground to a powder is more effective and potent.  At this point, I haven’t gone that far.  Two tightly packed capsules of crushed bud has alleviated the sharp pains in my legs.  I’m still a little stiff, but I can walk relatively pain free.

I haven’t experienced any drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, or anything that makes me feel like I’m impaired.  Of course, this is my own experience, yours may differ.  I have no idea how to determine the strength of the capsules that I am taking.  It will probably vary from one dose to another.

I notice the pain to be relieved within 20 minutes and it lasts for 4-8 hours!
