The storage of essential oils is also important. As we mentioned in a previous post regarding honey, essential oils should be stored in glass jars or glass vials. Plastic containers should not be used as plastic, especially when it gets heated up, (even by sunlight), changes the properties of the oils. When it comes to Essential Oils, it is preferred that the glass jars or vials be colored cobalt or amber. Make sure they are stored in a cool, dry place. They will least from one to three years for the most part, but oils like citrus oil will last between six months to a year.

Multi-purpose essential oils are rosemary, lavender, tea tree, chamomile, rose, pine, eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon and sandalwood.
